CONSTRUCTION OF HOUSES IN ALAMATA
The presence of the Missionaries of Charity in Alamata dates from 1984 as a response to the situation of hardship in the area.
At the beginning of 2004 it began the construction of houses for the neediest. The identification of those poor people could be directly done by the missionaries on visits to the population or through the kebele (administrative organization similar to a district town hall).
The objective of this project is to give access to decent housing to orphans or families. The selection criteria depend on the number of children, existence or not of parents, financial resources, chronic diseases …
Number of Beneficiaries: 9 families with 5 children per family
Total cost: 24,500 euros (2,800 €/house)
