Project Description
DODOLA
Dodola is an extremely poor Muslim town.
The Dodola mission was inaugurated by the Missionaries of Charity in 2006. They rehabilitated a small existing building in order to house 75 children under 6-7 years of age. Those children started nursery school and, moreover, benefited from a meal at the center before returning to their homes.
In 2011, a plot of land next to the kindergarten was purchased and the primary school was built. That same year the school was inaugurated and many of the students from the nursery school benefit from it.
The nursery is open from 8 in the morning to 2-3 in the afternoon. The students receive introductory reading and writing classes. Preschool children, due to their age, are a group in which malnutrition can cause a greater number of sequelae. For this reason, a lunch based on rice, corn, pasta, soybeans and fruit such as bananas is provided. They also receive uniforms and school supplies. Moreover, two social educators work on their familiar situation and health situation (skin infections, conjunctivitis, diarrhea …) during supervised homes visits
Homac Fundación has been supporting the meals of those children in the nursery school since 2007. The cost of it is of € 8,000 per year, which also includes the salary of two cooks.
