Project Description

KOFELE MOTHERS

The reception center for mothers in a precarious situation, became operational at the end of 2016.

It is located on a land owned by the Catholic Church in Kofele, under the supervision of the Robe Prefecture. In the Oromo state of Ethiopia.

The house has 4 bedrooms, a living room and a common bathroom, as well as an independent kitchen where cheeses are made in order to earn income to help
maintain it.

There is also a 200m 2 orchard and a non-potable water well; all this allows them to grow some food to feed themselves.

In 2018, 4 women and 6 children were welcomed at high risk of exclusion. The budget was 150,800 ETB (4,700€ per year, about 390€ per month). It includes food, clothing, medical assistance, schooling, electricity, water, firewood and the salary of the person in charge.

In 2019, the center increased the number of shelters to 5 women and 10 children between the ages of 3 and 14. The budget was 188000ETB (5,900€ per year). The sale of cheeses has begun to be a reality and has managed to reduce the budget from 470€/ person per year to 395€.

At this time, only two of the women are trained to work on their preparation. The rest are dedicated to the care of the house, garden and the little ones.

This year 6,000€ has been donated to keep the center running
