Project Description

CONSTRUCTION OF WELLS IN THE RURAL AREA OF ATTAT

The presence of the Medical Mission Sisters in Attat dates back to 1969.

It is an international religious congregation whose mission revolves around providing healthcare to populations in developing countries.

Since then this congregation has been responsible for a rural hospital 175 km from Addis Ababa. It is a reference center for the surrounding population.

In 2010, the construction of 5 water wells was planned in different towns near Attat, in a perimeter of 5 to 15 km. Some of the towns had wells dug 20 years ago by hand, shallow and with little water. Many others, such as Yeguibe and Shafamo, did not have wells and used the river water to wash clothes and drink.

From 2011 to date, 6 wells have been built, the average price of each well has been about € 6,000
